Sports Injuries
SPORTS INJURIES can take on a myriad of symptoms and concerns.  For professional, college and high school athletes, the desire is to get back in the game.  However, concern must be given to preventing further injury, rehabilitating the injury and preventing future injuries.

Dr. Riggs feels prevention is key and works with athletes and martial artists to prevent injuries by establishing balance in the body:  balanced muscular and joint function and flexibility are essential to preventing injuries.

Injuries when they do occur are TRAUMA.  Dr. Riggs has extensive experience working with work and motor vehicle trauma which carries over well to athletic injuries.  Many of the injuries are to the soft tissue and joints.  Sprains and strains are common (torn ligaments, tendons and muscles).  Joint hypomobility is also common.

COMMON MODALITIES USED WITH ATHLETES:
  • Kinesio taping
  • Graston Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
  • LASER therapy
  • Therapy Modalities:  ultrasound, interferential
  • Rehab, stretching, flexibility, endurance, strength

Whiplash Injuries
Whiplash injuries are considered soft tissue and joint trauma.  Dr. Riggs has extensive background in treating these injuries.   He completed the premier program on whiplash through leading Whiplash authority Arthur Croft, D.C. and received advanced training in chiropractic orthopedics.

Whiplash injuries can be slow to heal and sometimes do not heal completely leaving disability or chronic pain.  Early intervention is key to ensuring a positive outcome.
